AFRIYEA Golf Academy targets extending golf beyond Fort Portal

Gladys Zawedde

AFRIYEA Golf Academy was founded in September 2020 by Isiah Mwesige in Fort Portal with an aim of helping especially the less previledged take part in learning how to play golf.

Isiah Mwesige the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) AFRIYEA Golf Academy believes they will hit the target as he calls upon well wishers to come board and render some support,

“We started with 20 golfers aged 6 to 22 years but right now we have 60, each golfer paid a monthly fee of fifty thousand shillings (50,000/=) which could be used for facilitation and equipment such as the tees, clubs, shoes and gloves.”

Mwesige targets moving the whole of Uganda with an aim of taking the game to places where it does not exist,

“Our Target is moving throughout Uganda taking the game of golf to places where it does not exist and helping the less privileged who can afford to play the game.”

“In case well wishers come on board and render support we will be offering the services at no cost.” He added

The academy is also targeting moving to schools.

Stephen Kasaija is currently the head coach for the academy.

The academy is also getting online coaching from a number of golfers like Ronald Otile, Titus Ogwang, Lilian Koowe, Andrew Mugume, George Kituku, Macklyn Nsenga, Adolf Muhumuza and Happy Robert.
